Straight out of northern California, Malia Nahinu reflects on the positive effects of Cannabis since the legalization took effect in 2018. Using humor, freestyle rap lyrical poetry, sarcasm, and story telling, she expresses her love for the plant in far out ways and how it has helped her see life in new ways.

TEAS AND COLD FEETS
Walking the earth scared of crossing the wrong boundaries
Terrified of saying something offending the majority
Drinking green tea for more energy
Feelin as my feet ask for warmer socks
World too cold
People not sold
Life slippin out of my control
Lookin up to the sky gods
pleading with the jury
“Give me back my inner peace”
Clouds slapping me in the face with an icy reality
As I witness guns become a speech priority
Kids courageously speaking up
Causing politicians to grow geese on their backs
Bump the news page to a new face
So, they liberate a celebrity to speak about the same societal states
Just as many who try to shout their art work to the world
Listen to the children
Listen to the Adults
Listen to the Elderly
Listen to the Poor
Listen to the voiceless speak in eyes that cannot stop sobbing
But, their expression only matters if a popular
car or dashian solicits the stain across their Instagram frame
Look at these kids,
They don’t get paid to say what they stand for
I said they DON’T GET PAID TO SAY WHAT THEY STAND FOR
But,
they can’t sleep until the chamomile steeps
Calming their hearts just to make it through another
Fancy faced sheep
Standing in front of cameras smiling telling the world it’s okay to day dream
“We have it covered”
Covered
Covered
Covered
It’s blues day, I mean, it’s Tuesday
And I can’t figure out if my tea is settling me
So, I take a sip of extra cream and sugary coffee
Askin my sky god
If there’s something I’m supposed to say
Show me
But, they keep silent
Askin me to stop gettin cold feet
Keep writing
Keep creating your
Poetry.
